ABSTRACT
I. THE LOGIC OF THE STORY Telling a story in an empirical paper, thesis, or dissertation invariably involves at least a minimum exposure to the logic of statistical fundamentals, a topic treated in this chapter. Statistical fallacies need to be avoided. The measures of variables in your model need to be reliable. The research design must be valid. Findings must be significant and must demonstrate appropriate level of association. Without these fundamentals, even the application of sophisticated statistical procedures to good data will not be enough.
