ABSTRACT

As promised, we provide here some examples of finite maximal partial spreads that are not spreads. Actually, there is a large theory of such partial spreads in the work of Jungnickel and his colleagues (see e.g. [58]) and the interested reader is referred to this work for further study. In this chapter, we shall make use of the previous chapter which provides easy constructions of derivable partial spreads that are not reguli. These ideas go back to A. Bruen [9].
