Optimization of Solid-Phase Organic Syntheses by Monitoring Reactions on Single Resin Beads Using FTIR Microspectroscopy

This chapter describes the application of a single-bead FTIR microspectroscopic method in the optimization stage of solid-phase organic synthesis (SPOS) (110) and combinatorial chemistry. This method provides much-needed on-support reaction information at each stage of a synthetic sequence. Examples on the method and reaction monitoring directly on resin beads are presented to demon­ strate the value of the method.
