ABSTRACT
Structural design and the assurance of safety is, in reinforced concrete and other materials, achieved by explicit calculations. The practice of A A C design, with the industrialization of elements and a small number of manufacturers, has been also to use testing as a means of providing structural safety. This chapter presents both approaches as alternatives: explicit calculations and control of safety by testing.
