ABSTRACT

Three types of glass fibres of different alkali resistance were used in plain and blended OPC mortars as to investigate the properties of fresh and hardened mortars, including durability investigation of E-glass fibres in the matrix. The differences in the properties of fresh mixes, depending both on the type of the fibres, as well as on the particular type of pozzolana, were observed. Individual types of glass fibres differed from each other: in relation to an air-entrainment a positive effect of E-glass fibres compared to other types of glass fibres studied (REZAL 5, Cem-FIL 1) was observed. An increase in tensile strength compared to plain OPC mortar is presented when the pozzolans are used, mainly in the case of metakaolinite, condensed silica fume and blast-furnace slag.
