ABSTRACT

The freeze-thaw resistance of polypropylene fibre reinforced concrete was tested according to Swedish Standard SS 13 72 44: Concrete testing - Hardened concrete - Frost-resistance.

The freeze-thaw testing was carried out on concrete specimens with different air contents and fibre volumes. Additionally the freeze-thaw resistance of a steel plus polypropylene fibre reinforced concrete was tested. The results show that the pore structure of the matrix is the most significant factor affecting the freeze-thaw resistance. The fibre content does not seem to influence in general the freeze-thaw resistance of fibre reinforced cementitious materials.
