ABSTRACT

INTRODUCTION Concrete reinforced with mild steel rebars is commonly used in the construction of bridge decks, parking garages, and numerous other constructed facilities. The extensive use of de-icing chemicals is reducing the service life of these facilities. In addition, concrete structures exposed to highly corrosive environments, such as coastal and marine structures, chemical plants, water and wastewater treatment facilities, have been experiencing drastically reduced service life and causing user inconvenience.
