ABSTRACT
The paper describes the Author's experience in the innovative development of structural masonry through design, research and application over a 30 year period. The cross fertilisation of ideas and developments from other materials, and the unique advantages this revealed for masonry applications are described. The techniques are illustrated with examples of applications. The paper concludes with a description of the most recent developments in prefabrication techniques which place masonry on a new horizon for exciting further developments and applications.
