ABSTRACT
INTRODUCTION The advent of new materials throughout technology has resulted in a range of special materials suitable for the construction industry. In many cases these materials may be tailored to the needs of a particular project. In other cases general formulations having wide application are available. These special materials for use in the construction industry are principally cementitious/ pozzolanic, or pure polymer/polymer modifier. They include materials as diverse in structure and properties as silica fume, epoxy resin, and styrene butadiene rubber.
