ABSTRACT
D.L. Mullett and R.M. Lawson The Steel Construction Institute The design of slim floor beams, where the floor is contained within the slab depth, is reviewed. Slim floor construction can incorporate either precast concrete units or profiled steel decking (210mm deep decking). The paper reports on research that is being carried out at the Steel Construction Institute into aspects of both these types of Slim Floor buildings. The research and development for this project was funded by British Steel, General Steels and British Steel, Strip Products.
