Acoustic emission and source location in concrete subjected to mixed-mode loading

Abstract The paper contains results of acoustic emission studies conducted on mortar and concrete. The loading was conducted both in tension and shear. The results of hit-rate, energy etc. indicate that the amount of AE activity is strongly dependent on the aggregate size. The located events are found to lie adjacent to the surface cracks.
