ABSTRACT

Abstract This contribution deals with the finite element analysis of the pull-out behavior of the anchor bolts embedded in the concrete plates. This is the problem proposed by RILEM TC-90 Committee. Smeared crack approach based on the fictitious crack model is adopted. Numerical results demonstrate that the nominal failure strength of the anchor bolts with different material properties and specimen sizes depend on the ratio of the embedded depth to the characteristic length (d/lch). The influence of the finite element mesh size on the failure strength of anchor bolts is not serious. In same cases the mesh discretization influences not only the failure strength but also the crack patterns at failure.
