ABSTRACT
The t e r m Ρ - Δ effect refers to the inf luence of g r a v i t y loads ac t ing o n a s t ruc ture i n its d e f o r m e d c o n f i g u r a t i o n . I n the case of structures stressed i n the elastic range a n d subjected to static loads, this effect produces a n a m p l i f i c a t i o n of the i n t e r n a l actions w i t h respect to those c o m p u t e d b y means of a f i r s t - o r d e r analysis.
