ABSTRACT

I n the p r e v i o u s chapter the b e h a v i o u r of b e a m - t o - c o l u m n connections has been analysed w i t h reference b o t h to m o n o t o n i c l o a d i n g c o n d i t i o n s a n d to cyclic l o a d i n g condi t ions . I t has been s h o w n that this b e h a v i o u r is general ly non-l inear , w i t h d i f fe rent degrees of d e t e r i o r a t i o n as far as the n u m b e r of cycles increases. Part icular a t tent ion has also been p a i d to the connect ion classif ication. T w o m a i n parameters are i n v o l v e d i n the connect ion classif ication, the flexural s t rength a n d the r o t a t i o n a l stiffness.
