ABSTRACT
It is possible, and indeed desirable, to measure their hardness. The problem lies in the measuring technique which should reflect the overall hardness and not only the local hardness of the aggregates which have been added. The relation between the dimension of penetration and that of the aggregates is important. It is unfortunately unfavourable for the Shore technique.
