Nominal section The area of the nominal section of the tendon element under investigation is given in the catalogue or in the prestressing tendon specification.
Actual initial section For deformed or non-round tendons, the mean area of the section of the test piece before application of load is measured to 1.0, or 2.0% for sizes equivalent to a diameter of 3 mm or smaller. This sectional area is generally determined by weighing the test piece, taking the density to be 7.85 103 kg/m3, and it is given in the test report.
