ABSTRACT
The apparatus is shown in figure 1 and consists of a polyvinyl chloride square mould (100 mm side and 50 mm in height) with jointed corners. This square is deformed at a constant velocity of 40 mm/min. The force necessary to deform the mortar-filled square is indicated on a dynamometer. The amount of deformation, that is the change in length, shall be recorded by a displacement transducer.
