ABSTRACT

The test shall be disregarded if failure occurs outside the middle third of the span of the specimens and a further specimen shall be tested.

The dimensions of the specimen cross section at or close to the point of failure shall be determined. Sample thickness shall be determined at at least three points across the specimen thickness with a micrometer or other gauge of similar accuracy and a mean value obtained. Sample width shall be recorded to the nearest 0.1 mm, sample thickness to the nearest 0.02 mm. Note: Care must be taken to avoid measurements at locations which have expanded during the test.
