This document outlines a systematic approach or methodology for service life prediction of building materials and components, including the identification of needed information, the selection or development of tests, the interpretation of data, and the reporting of results.* It utilizes an iterative research approach, thereby permitting improved predictions to be made as the base of knowledge grows. Although mathematical analyses needed for prediction of service life are not described in detail, either deterministic or probabilistic analyses may be used.
