ABSTRACT
W h e n current mete r measu remen t s are made with a cable-suspended current mete r in deep swift water , the current mete r and the sounding weight will be carried downs t ream for a certain dis tance before the weight touches the bo t tom. This is often the case w h e n measu remen t s are made from a bridge or cableway which is at a vertical dis tance above the water surface. In such cases , correct ions have to be applied in order to de te rmine the correct depth of water and the depth to which the current mete r should be lowered .
