ABSTRACT

In the summer of 1990, before the first tunnel broke through under the sea, Eurotunnel’s project chief executive John Neerhout remarked that he thought people’s perception of the project was all wrong. “It surprises me,” he said, “that people still view this as a tunnelling job. It’s not-it’s a transportation project.”
