ABSTRACT

Abstract Three four-bay flat slab structures were designed according to the pertinent Canadian standard. The three structures were identical except that one was reinforced with mild steel, the other with carbon-fibre bars and the third with glass-fibre bars. They were analyzed using the nonlinear finite element method and their deflections, ductility and strength were compared with each other. Nonlinear finite element program NONLACS was used for the analysis.
