ABSTRACT

Abstract The present paper deals with the experimental program and the numerical simulations on Three Points Bending tests (TPB) for plated concrete medium size beams conducted at the LaRM Testing Laboratory in the University of Bologna. Steel Fibre Reinforced Concrete beams were bonded with different Fibre Reinforced Plastic (FRP) plates made up of aramid fibres (AFRP) and glass fibres (GFRP). The use of fibre reinforced concrete instead of plain concrete aimed at reproducing almost the same ductility of ordinary beams due to the embedded rebars which were not present in the testing specimens. In fact this project aimed at studying the fracture mechanisms of concrete whose understanding could be disturbed by the presence of rebars themselves.
