ABSTRACT

Abstract This paper outlines the design Guideline of FRP reinforced concrete building structures. The Guidelines hereto present one concept for the policies and methods to be used in the design of the principal structural parts and other, non-structural parts of buildings and other artificial structures made of FRP reinforced concrete, which consists of concrete and the FRP reinforcements. Keywords: building structures, design method, FRP reinforcement, FRP reinforced concrete, serviceability limit sate, structural design, ultimate limit state

1 Introduction

"The Guideline for structural design of FRP reinforced concrete building structures" was established as one of the final outputs of the Japanese comprehensive research and development project on "Effective Utilization of Advanced Materials to Construction (1988 - 1992 of fiscal year)". This Guideline provide a design concept and methods for the non-prestressed concrete structures reinforced with FRP materials. "Design Methods for prestressed FRP reinforced concrete building structures" is separated from this Guideline. The standard test methods, design example, design concept for durability and evaluation method of fire resistance were also completed in order to back up this design Guideline.
