ABSTRACT

Abstract Fibre composite bars containing aramid fibres can be used as prestressing elements. Up to now, research and practical applications mainly focussed on the pretensioning system. Hence it is important to have information about the transmission length of this type of bars. The aim of the research program outlined in this paper, was to determine the transmission length and the critical concrete cover of several available bar types. The results of tests on 29 prestressed concrete prisms are discussed and numerical values for the transmission length are proposed. Keywords : Concrete, FRP reinforcement, bond, pretensioning.
