ABSTRACT

Abstract An upgrading method for existing buildings is presented. The basic idea of the procedure is the application of additional composite layers to the surfaces of the members. The composite layers consist of textile fabrics which are embedded in a mortar matrix. Experiments with upgraded concrete beams and a masonry wall with flexural loading have been carried out. Modelling and numerical simulation of the experiments with the finite element method have been done. Keywords: Upgrading, fiber, matrix, masonry, numerical simulation.
