ABSTRACT
T h e p o s s i b i l i t y o f a g l o b a l c l i m a t e c h a n g e , as a r e s u l t o f i n c r e a s i n g c o n c e n t r a t i o n s o f g r e e n h o u s e g a s e s , i s n o w w i d e l y a c c e p t e d b y t h e s c i e n t i f i c c o m m u n i t y . I n t h e P r o c e e d i n g s o f t h e S e c o n d W o r l d C l i m a t e C o n f e r e n c e ( 1 9 9 0 ) , h e l d i n G e n e v a , t h e s t a t e o f t h e a r t i n c l i m a t e m o d e l l i n g w a s r e v i e w e d w i t h a v i e w t o p r e d i c t i n g t h e r e s u l t a n t t e m p e r a t u r e r i s e a n d m a r i n e - m e t e o c o n d i t i o n s , s u c h as a n a c c e l e r a t e d s ea l e v e l r i s e ( A S L R ) a n d c h a n g i n g s t o r m c o n d i t i o n s , w i t h t h e r e l a t e d s t o r m s u r g e s a n d w a v e s .
