ABSTRACT

Standard test methods for FRC are reviewed. For most mechanical properties, FRC can be tested in the same way as plain concretes. However, the special properties of FRC, in particular its toughness, require some special test techniques. In this chapter the focus will be on test techniques for measuring flexural toughness, and on the effects of specimen size, rate of loading, presence of a notch, and fibre orientation. In addition, the application of optical fiber sensors is discussed.
