ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT. Traditional constructed concrete roads are noisier than bituminous roads on account of their more unequal surface. By stripping the fresh concrete top layer, it is possible to create an equal surface with a fine texture. This process is now being used in the Flemish Community on a large scale. Measurements on realised roadparts show a noise production lower than on roads with dense asphalt. Noisereduced cement concrete hardenings were executed by different methods: by using the super smoother, by grinding, by milling and by double chipping. Rolling noise measurements were carried out. The development of the "white" alternative for drain asphalt and the used execution methods for concrete pavements, have not stopped. An overview will be presented of the current research activities concerning porous concrete.
