ABSTRACT

Determination of static and dynamic pressures exerted by stored granular or powder materials in silos and the analysis of the corresponding structural behaviour of silos has been the subject of extensive research as is apparent from the relevant international literature. There are specific loading condi tions, however, concerning silo structures which are not very well covered in the technical literature. Among them are loading due to earthquake, temperature changes, differential settlements and pressures induced by stored silage material.
