ABSTRACT
The design and performance of metal rectangular planform silos are very different from those of circular silos. Pressure/displacement relationships, their interaction and their importance in the performance of rectangular planform silos are often poorly understood. Features which may be signifi cant in order to achieve optimal designs are often overlooked in favour of conservative designs.
