ABSTRACT
The development of the finite element code, MODACSIL, at INSA (Rennes, France) is part of a national research programme on cereal materials stored in steel silos carried out to support the draft of the recent French Norm P22630 (NF, 1992). In this research programme, three main topics have been investigated: full-scale experiments on silos to measure pressures along the wall, laboratory tests on cereal products to characterize the bulk material law, and numerical investigations.
