ABSTRACT
Containment structures in the cement industry take the form of silos, buildings over stockpiles within retaining walls, and, more recently, large domes.
The potential locations of most dust emission are: • failure in the venting systems for process gases • ventilation of containment structures • conveyor transfer points • failure of pressurised transfer systems
Fire and explosion risks do exist to a relatively slight extent in the fuel and firing systems associated with the clinker production process but, generally, although these have serious consequences to the production operation, their infrequent occurrence and small amounts of consequential dust emission do not classify them with the need for containment structures.
