ABSTRACT
Liquids with a high viscosity present different handling and containment problems. They may require specialised pumping or other transmission aids to move them, perhaps heating or cooling, and strict temperature control as part of the handling/storage process. Strategic oil reserves provide one example. Where the geology is appropriate, they may be stored in unlined rock but some are virtually solid unless warmed for removal.
