ABSTRACT

A further change has been the requirement for containers not only to have an often very long, trouble free life but also the need to demonstrate this convincingly in advance, often to a Public Inquiry, with full investigatory powers. Proving adequacy is demanding new techniques and placing new demands on engineers and other experts, typically in decontamination techniques and explosion effects. Criteria appropriate to the assessment of storing hazardous substances are considered in papers (6.9).
