ABSTRACT
The initial length of the belt where the burden settles down after being fed on, and the outer end, where the returning part sheds most of the adhering dust, are fully housed, both locations usually being supported by tower structures less sensitive to overload than the gantries. Certain particularly difficult materials must be conveyed by fully enclosed gantries designed to bear the maximum conceivable spillage burden.
