ABSTRACT

Abstract The repair of marine structures contaminated by chloride ingress can be a complex task involving the understanding of survey information, formulation of a repair regime and selection of appropriate materials, for an engineered solution within budget guidelines. This paper describes the processes followed to repair a reinforced concrete jetty subjected to high tidal action and the use of electrochemical desalination to extract chlorides from the concrete prior to application of a sprayed cementitious overlay. Keywords: Concrete, chloride ingress, corrosion, marine, tidal, reinforcement, sprayed concrete, desalination, repairs.
