ABSTRACT
For practical reasons the models were set to one fifth scale, resulting in slab dimensions of 1.4m x 1.4m x 0.138m and an integral circular column stub with 0.152m diameter and 0.305m length. The models were carefully chosen to take account of the likely variables which could influence the results:
• LV 1 reinforced as the prototype, L V2 with concentrated steel throughout, (i.e. top steel not curtailed) and LV 4 reinforced as the prototype but subjected to cyclic loading, were all tested under symmetric loading.
