ABSTRACT
Abstract Thefundamentalnaturalfrequencyandinherentdampingofreallifecompositefloors hasbeenmeasuredusinganinstrumentedhammer.Theflooraccelerationduetoa singleimpactofaheeldrophasalsobeenmeasured.Theseexperimentalresultshave beenusedtoreviewthemostcommoncriteriaforvibrationacceptabilityofcomposite floors.Itisestablishedthatthesecriteriadonotalwaysleadtoconsistentconclusions regardingthefloorassessmentforvibrationacceptability.Therefore,anewapproach foracceptablevibrationsisproposedbasedonafiniteelementmodelofthefloorand eliminatingtheneedforlengthycalculationsandtheuseofacceptabilitygraphs,etc. Keywords:Floors,vibration,structuraldynamics,serviceability.
