ABSTRACT

Abstract Full scale measurements on a steel lattice tower of 101 m tall, supporting antennae, ladder, and platforms at various levels, conducted by Structural Engineering Research Centre, Madras, is discussed, with respect to the dynamic response characteristics. Wind tunnel studies on lattice towers are particularly difficult to carry out in view of the small dimensions of structural elements in model scale. Gust factor approach, as applicable to dynamically sensitive structures is one of the practical design methods. The authors attempt to compare the codal provisions and analytical results with the measured dynamic responses. Keywords: Dynamic response, lattice tower.
