Abstract TheIsraeliStandardSI252,1982[1]proposesinstructionsandproceduresfor assessmentofstructuralstabilityofstructuresandstructuralmembersbyloading withintherangeofserviceconditionsorbyloadinguptotheultimatelimitstate. Fieldloadingtestsofstructuresaregenerallyofthe"non-failure"type.Thepaper discussescommonreasonsforperformingaloadingtest,standardinstructionsforthe testprocedureandfortheassessmentofthestabilityoftheexaminedstructureor member,andinternal"SOP"s(standardoperationprocedures)[2]preparedbythe laboratory,whichisanAccreditedIndependentTestingLaboratoryaccordingtoISO Guide25[3].Recommendationsforfurtherrevisionsofthestandardarealso presented.
