The efficient operation of a water company is impossible without a reliable database, accessible to all, at all times. An online database reduces the time lag between an event and its entry in the files; for example, typical scanning intervals of 5 min in a telemetry system mean that the database effectively represents the current state of the system. Such fresh information is extremely valuable to many in the company, from managers to operators.
