ABSTRACT

Appendix F Water consumption patterns Real data can be obtained only by direct measurements; attempts to provide 'typical patterns' are not likely to succeed due to interference of many factors, largely unknown at present. Even when data are available, the patterns are difficult to discern. In many cases, the data are irregular, like in the case shown in Fig. F.I. Note that both the base demand and the sudden jumps are unrelated to the day in the week, or to the time of day. Obviously the process is automated and the level of demand is dictated by its requirements, unknown outside the dairy. The useful information from such data is only the range of flows: the maximum demand and the minimum night flow.
