ABSTRACT

In recent high-rise building projects, total structures with unusual layout of the stiffening structural components are calculated by modelling the base plate as well as the stiffening cores and decks with folded plate elements. Vertical composite or concrete columns are modelled with beam elements as well as the bracing steel diagonals on the surface of the structure. Dead weight, traffic and also wind loads are put onto the three-dimensional finite folded plate element model. Wind load distribution is thereby taken into account on the curved shape of the towers as a result of wind tunnel tests.
