ABSTRACT

Regardless of the information provided in the contract documents, bills of quantities, specifications and soil reports, a visit to the site for a detailed study is an essential preliminary to any planning or pricing action. The reality of a site is often quite different from the impression given by the drawings supplied. This can be particularly true in relation to scale and the threedimensional nature of the site. Boundaries become more tangible in their effect on the siting and choice of plant, and a totally different concept of access may result.
