ABSTRACT

Those involved in tender or contract planning need to be well versed in the cost factors likely to influence decisions relating to plant and method choice. In the preceding chapter the influence of the designer was considered and the ways in which the contractor could contribute to speeding up construction and reducing cost. In this and the following chapter the cost elements related to labour and plant and the selection of plant and methods are examined, together with the basis of adequate comparisons of cost to ensure that the most economic solution is used.
