ABSTRACT

Injection is frequently an important part of construction under ground. It is primarily used to prevent water leakages, but injection is increasingly used for ground improvement as well. Most injection work use cement-based grouts, while for very fine cracks or impermeable soil, chemical grouts have traditionally been required. This means that while prevention of water leakage is often necessary to protect groundwater levels, the result may be pollution of ground water, since some chemicals traditionally used for difficult ground conditions have the potential for polluting the groundwater.
