ABSTRACT
Risser et al. (1984) state, as one of the conclusions to a workshop on landscape ecology, that
…clearly enunciating principles of landscape ecology will catalyse a convergence of existing methodology and theory, and will provide practical improvements in existing methodologies, such as inserting ecological processes more forcefully in geographic information systems used for planning purposes, (emphasis mine)
The aim of the present chapter is to discuss how these linkages can be made, particularly in an Australian context.
