ABSTRACT

Drivers are not all the same, neither are the situations in which they find themselves from one moment to the next, nor are drivers the same as they were last year-they have learned things on the one hand, but may have lost some abilities on the other. The question is, then, under what circumstances will support systems in cars have to be adaptive and to what degree. As this involves evaluating possible support systems, criteria for evaluation are required. Three come to mind: pollution reduction, traffic system efficiency and safety. Safety will be the focus of the present discussion.
