ABSTRACT
The Earth's environment and especially the means required to monitor and preserve it, are being increasingly recognized as matters of great concern. Within its Earth Observation Programme, ESA is studying at present the payload and mission configurations of the European Platform which will be dedicated to the study and monitoring of the Earth/atmosphere system.
